Development Assistant 

 

MCCL is seeking a full-time person to support the Development Director in stewarding donors. The position requires good communication and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be self-starters able to balance multiple demands and work with shifting priorities and deadlines. Applicants should have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office products, data entry, accounting basics, and basic office equipment. 

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • researching donor and prospect information, 

  • updating paper and electronic donor records and building donor profiles using a CRM database 

  • written and verbal communications with donors to thank them for their donations 

  • scheduling meetings for the Development Director and/or the Co-Executive Directors with major donors 

  • assisting with monthly and quarterly mailings to major donors as needed 

  • assisting with event registration and planning for major donor events, including a biennial Legislative Dinner, a biennial Gala, and smaller, more frequent local fundraising events 

  • working closely with our Development Director and our Database Director on day-to-day tasks 

  • other duties as assigned 

 

Applicants must have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products 

  • Basic understanding of accounting 

  • Excellent attention to detail 

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills 

  • Keyboarding skills 

 

The ideal applicant will have experience in donor development practices, Raiser’s Edge or other CRM database software, event planning, and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment focused on changing the culture.

Data Entry Processor

Job Summary: 

This entry-level position requires a person with strong attention to detail and excellent keyboarding skills to perform a range of data entry into our Raiser’s Edge (“CRM”) database. This position does not include any programming or coding. 

 

Duties Include:  

  • Processing donor gifts, event registrations, and other payments into Raiser’s Edge database as batches 

  • Scanning all funds received to the bank at day end 

  • Reconciling balance sheets at day end 

  • Preparing receipts and thank-you letters 

  • Typing constituent information accurately into database and keeping records up-to-date 

  • Keeping up to date with training on new and current database skills and features as technology and software changes 

  • Helping with mass mailings and other projects as needed 

  • Answering phones as needed 

  • Other general office duties as assigned 

 

General Requirements: 

  • Two-year college degree or equivalent work experience 

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable basics  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, and OneDrive) and Google Drive 

  • Maintain confidentiality for all donors and their information 

  • Ability to learn new database technologies and software as needed 

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Initiative-taker with good time management and attention to detail 

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment 

 
This is a full-time (32-40 hours) and in-office position.

Receptionist/General Office Support

 

MCCL is seeking a part- or full-time person to fulfill receptionist and general office support needs. The position requires good communication and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be self-starters able to balance multiple demands and work with shifting priorities and deadlines. Applicants should have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office products and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Answering incoming telephone calls

  • Greeting volunteers, service people, members, and other visitors to our office

  • Providing administrative assistance to the Co-Executive Directors and others as needed

  • Sorting and distributing mail to appropriate staff

  • Maintaining and organizing files, office supplies, shipping supplies, and other resources

  • Monitoring and responding to emails

  • Helping with data entry, proofing batches, and other database needs

  • Helping with copying and mailings

  • Other duties as assigned

Student Internships

MCCL offers paid internship opportunities to college students to learn the fundamentals of educating and activating the grassroots to engage in the pro-life movement. Interns will:

  • Learn to articulate and defend the pro-life position

  • Work with the leaders of the pro-life movement in Minnesota

  • Make a direct impact on saving the lives of the most vulnerable among us

  • Gain first-hand experience in legislative action, political action, and educational action with grassroots membership

  • Be involved in projects such as our Life Leadership Camp; outreach to our statewide network of pro-life chapters; research on current legislative, political, and educational initiatives; outreach to diverse demographic groups; developing and disseminating communications to reach new communities and members; and much, much more

 

Interns quickly become part of the departmental staff and become invaluable to the day-to-day operations. Learning about the pro-life movement and the hands-on experience MCCL provides are only part of our internship program. Interns often form long-lasting friendships and make invaluable connections while at MCCL.

Applicants must be self-starters with good communication skills. They must be able to balance multiple demands and work with shifting priorities and deadlines. As interns, they should be equally comfortable working as part of a team and with minimal supervision. Preference is given to applicants with knowledge of the pro-life movement or previous involvement in pro-life activities.
